A Texas attorney who participated in an arbitration in New York was not barred from sharing a fee even though he wasn't admitted to the practice of law in the state. A U.S. District Court in New York, addressing the applicability of New York's unauthorized practice rules to the arbitration context, has ruled that an attorney participating in an arbitration was not engaged in the unauthorized practice of law.
