In a suit over defective side-impact airbags, certification of a nationwide class was reversed and remanded with instructions to deny the certification. The court found that the plaintiffs did not sufficiently demonstrate the predominance requirement for class certification because they failed both to undertake the required "extensive analysis" of variations in state law concerning their claims and to consider how those variations impact predominance.
