Most negative information stays on your credit report for seven years, a bankruptcy for ten. The time is not extended, however, when the debt is sold or assigned to a new person such as a debt collector. If a debt collector tries to "re-age" a debt, tell the credit bureau and demand they correct the incorrect information.  


Special Deductions for Elderly and Blind Filers

Some older taxpayers may be able to cut their tax bills with very little work. All they have to do is check a couple of boxes on their tax returns. The Internal Revenue Service has special, higher standard-deduction amounts for taxpayers age 65 or older. Class Action Filed Against Hewlett-Packard Co. Permitted To Proceed

On January 31, 2007, the Santa Clara Superior Court certified a consumer lawsuit to proceed as a class action against Hewlett-Packard Company.
