The People’s Lawyer’s Tip of the DayDon't let anyone steal your identity when they go "pfishing". Pfishing is when an identity thief sends you a fake notice that looks like it's from a bank, creditor, credit card company or PayPal, telling you there is a problem with your account and to reply. Never reply to any email asking for personal information. If you think it is a real request, call the creditor to confirm it. Lifeline ProgramThe Lifeline program is designed to help qualified low-income individuals pay the monthly cost of basic telephone service. A Texas resident is qualified if the current total household income is at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. A resident is also qualified if they are currently receiving: Medicaid, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program support, Food stamps, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Health Benefit Coverage under Child Health Plan (CHIP) under Chapter 62 support.
