The People’s Lawyer’s Tip of the Day

Several months ago, the FTC told you that the U.S. Department of Education announced some flexibility to federal student loan borrowers. IRS offers tool to track your stimulus payment

If you’re wondering when you’ll receive your $600 stimulus payment, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requests that you don’t call the tax agency to ask. Instead, it has set up an online portal where citizens can track their payment, much like they do their tax refund.
The portal, part of IRS.gov, is called Get My Payment. At the site, you click on the Get My Payment link that will take you to a page where you enter identifying information.

Only go to the site by typing in the URL “IRS.gov” and do not click on links from email or other sources to reach it. Since you’ll be entering sensitive information, you can be sure that scammers will quickly try to lead people to fake web portals. Click here for more.

Your Money

Of course, it’s hard during any year to achieve resolutions, such as resolving to exercise more and eat healthier. At least with last year, there was a good excuse. But in 2021, things are going to be different. We’re going to pay down credit card debt, stick to our budgets and put more money toward retirement. Because even in the midst of a pandemic, and maybe especially because of it, we shouldn’t be engaging in bad financial behaviors. If you want 2021 to be a better year financially, consider making these 10 financial New Year’s resolutions. Click here for more.
