For the Lawyers

TCPA attorneys received $20 million in fees. Attorneys representing 18,000 consumers in a Telephone Consumer Protection Act suit against Dish Network LLC will walk away with $20.4 million in fees, a third of the hard fought $61 million verdict they secured for the class, a North Carolina federal judge ruled Monday. “Class counsel achieved an excellent result for class members, assuming significant risk and overcoming numerous obstacles along the way,” Judge Eagles wrote. “Regardless of the underlying subject matter, it takes skilled counsel to successfully manage an 18,000-plus member class action. It takes a different set of highly developed skills to successfully achieve a jury verdict.” KRAKAUER v. DISH NETWORK, L.L.C. Click here for more.
