Your MoneyAfter an unusual post-summer surge over the last few weeks, gasoline prices have finally begun to back off to normal levels. The AAA Fuel Gauge Survey shows the national average price of regular gasoline is $2.86 a gallon, down four cents from a week ago. It's still three cents higher than a month ago. The average price of premium gas is $3.42 a gallon, down three cents from last Friday. The average price of diesel fuel is $3.29 a gallon, the same a last week. Click here for more. For the LawyersWhite House counsel steps down. Don McGahn, who helped shepherd the nominations of two of President Donald Trump's U.S. Supreme Court nominees through Congress, has stepped down as White House counsel following the announcement of his replacement. The former Jones Day partner, who was also ensnared in the investigation of alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, served as White House counsel since Trump took office in January 2017. In August, the President announced McGahn's resignation over Twitter, noting that he would depart in the fall, after the confirmation battle over Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. "I have worked with Don for a long time and truly appreciate his service!" Trump said in that tweet. This week, Trump told reporters that Pat A. Cipollone, a well-known Washington litigator who has been a partner at Stein Mitchell Cipollone Beato & Missner LLP, would replace McGahn. Click here for more. |
