Will Your Homeowners Insurance Come Through After a Natural Disaster?

Last year’s multiple wildfires and Category 5 hurricanes caused billions of dollars in damage to the homes and personal property of the people in their paths. Even though gasoline prices have been rock steady in the latter half of the summer, motorists on the road for the Labor Day weekend will face the highest prices at the pump since 2014. The AAA Fuel Gauge Survey shows the national average price of regular gas is $2.83 a gallon, up a penny from last Friday. However, prices are 43 cents higher than last Labor Day weekend. Click here for more.

Justice Department lends its support to students suing Harvard University over affirmative action. The Department of Justice filed a statement of interest supporting the applicants in the closely watched case. It argued racial demographics of incoming classes that are “remarkably stable” year after year indicate that Harvard, one of the nation’s preeminent universities, has consistently violated the equal protection clause of the Constitution and Supreme Court guidance on affirmative action.
