FDA panel votes against Duchenne muscular dystrophy drug

A U.S. Food and Drug Administration panel voted against approval for eteplirsen, a drug that has shown promise with Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients in small trials. Eteplirsen has been shown to prolong the ability of boys with the disease to walk long beyond the time they'd be expected to do so. However, the panel voted against the drug because a clinical trial included just 12 patients and no control group. Click here for more.

CFPB cannot force for-profit college group to comply with investigative demand. The United States District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that due to a lack of authority under existing consumer protection laws, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”) cannot require a for-profit college accrediting group to comply with a civil investigative demand (“CID”) to determine the group’s method for accrediting schools.
