Google Using Artificial Intelligence to Fight Spam


In the never ending battle against spam, Google is now using artificial intelligence to root out clever spam e-mails and keep them out of user’s inboxes. In general, spam filters learn what is spam when you mark messages as spam. The new technology seeks to improve on that by identifying spam tailored to look like legitimate emails.

The ABA Ethics Committee has issued Opinion 471, interpreting Model Rules 1.15 (Safekeeping property) and 1.16(d) (Protecting client’s interest on termination of representation). Based on a prior 1977 informal opinion, the Committee again endorsed the “end-product” approach followed by a minority of jurisdictions where the client is not entitled to the entire file at the termination of representation, but only documents that are the end product of the lawyer’s services. The opinion holds that the lawyer is not required to automatically surrender material that may have led up to the creation of that end product. Click here for more.
