Higher Risks in Smaller Hospitals?

An analysis of medical care by U.S. News and World Report indicates that you may be at more risk getting a surgical procedure done at a low-volume hospital as compared to a high-volume hospital. The study revealed that hospitals in urban areas which did a large number of surgical procedures posed a lesser risk to patients than having the same procedure done at smaller hospitals that performed fewer procedures in a year.  Click here for more.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana has dismissed a potential class action against eBay alleging that the company was responsible for increasing its users’ risk of identity theft following a data breach in 2014. The court ruled the plaintiff lacked standing under Article III of the Constitution to pursue the claims because the alleged injury was too speculative to meet the “certainly impending” standard established by the Supreme Court in Clapper vs. Amnesty International USA.
