Asiana Airlines May Sue TV Station & NTSB

It could be a long time before we really know what happened when Asiana Flight 214 crash landed at a San Francisco airport. However, very soon after the incident, several news outlets were attempting to gather information about the crew and passengers aboard to ill-fated Boeing 777.

For one television station in Oakland, what transpired thereafter was particularly unusual.

Shown in a video that has gone viral on YouTube, Oakland's KTVU went live with inaccurate information regarding the names of the pilots' on board the flight. Although the information was (erroneously) confirmed by the NTSB, many viewers felt that the names were not only offensive, but clearly fake.

In response, Asiana Airlines said,
"regarding the KTVU-TV's demeaning report of the pilots on July 12, ASIANA Airlines is reviewing possible legal action against KTVU-TV and the NTSB."

Both the NTSB and KTVU have apologized for the mistake.

Expect Changes to Frequent Flyer Programs

Over the next few weeks, travelers can expect big changes to their frequent flier programs. According to a report, JetBlue, United, Delta, and American Airlines will all make significant changes to their loyalty rewards programs.

At one end of the spectrum, the changes will be good for consumers. For instance, JetBlue announced that rewards points will no longer expire.

On the other hand, United Airlines will have a minimum annual spending requirement in order to achieve certain status levels. Additionally, passengers can expect higher fees for award tickets and changing or canceling a trip.

What changes can you expect from your favorite reward program?

Court Affirms "Irresistible Attraction" Rule

On Friday, an Iowa worker lost her appeal to have the Iowa Supreme Court reverse its ruling that she did not suffer gender bias after being fired for being "irresistible."

Under the ruling, employees who are seen as an "irresistible attraction" can be fired without the employer having to answer for gender bias.

Many pundits think the Iowa court got it wrong. What do you think?
