The People’s Lawyer’s Tip of the Day

Shakespeare said, "Neither a borrower, nor a lender be." He could have added, or a co-signer, surety or guarantor.

Whenever you co-sign for someone, you must pay if they do not. If they stop paying or file bankruptcy, you must pay. Don't ever co-sign for someone unless you will be able to pay.

Komen Foundation Draws Criticism

The Susan G. Komen Foundation is the largest, most-funded breast cancer organization in the United States. Known for its pink ribbon and "For the Cure" slogan, the Komen Foundation has become synonymous with breast cancer awareness.

Recently, the group has come
under fire for questionable decisions, canceled races, and the CEO's massive salary.

Specifically, critics object to Nancy Brinker's $684,000 a year salary as head of the organization. Furthermore, they have taken issue with the organizations relentless protection of its "For the Cure" and "For a Cure" slogans, going so far as to intimidate much smaller charities that can't afford to fight back.

For (previous) supporter Jude Callirgos, the final straw occurred when the Komen Foundation made a politically motivated decision to deny funding for breast cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood.

By one account, only 15% of the groups money goes toward research for a cure.

Will the Komen Foundation rebound from the recent string of bad press?

Senator Calls Snowden Leak Act of Treason

Is Edward Snowden a hero, or a criminal?

After leaking sensitive NSA documents detailing its extensive monitoring of United States citizens, a media frenzy ensued. In the aftermath, the NSA found both supporters and critics of its policies.

According to Senator Bill Nelson of Florida, Snowden should be held accountable for an "act of treason". As the Senator puts it, "we cannot have national security if our secrets cannot be kept."

What do you think? Should Snowden be applauded or prosecuted for leaking the sensitive information?
