Shop Around: Cutting Your Car Insurance

Car insurance can be very costly. Yet, when most consumers purchase car insurance, they simply forget about it. After-all, as long as coverage is complete and current, there's no need to bother with it, right?

Wrong!

Car insurance prices vary greatly. One insurance company may quote $3,000 for coverage, while another may quote $700 for the same coverage. In fact, it is quite common.

Take a look at your insurance premium. Then, make a few calls asking other companies how much they charge for the same coverage. If you really like your current insurance company, ask a representative if the company can match the best price.

You could be losing hundreds or thousands of dollars on insurance every year. Never leave money on the table.  Click here for more.

Marijuana Becomes Legal in Washington

In a move that highlights a shift in thinking throughout parts of the United States, marijuana became legal for recreational use in Washington state on Thursday at midnight. The legalization of marijuana in Washington hasn't come without controversy. The law explicitly forbids smoking marijuana outside of the privacy of one's home. Yet, many community members organized for a gathering at the Space Needle for a public smoke. The Seattle attorney issued a warning to the public, insisting that violators would be fined. However, the Seattle Police Department instructed its officers to only issue warnings.

City officials aren't the only ones not on the same page. Marijuana remains a Schedule I federally controlled substance, setting up a big potential legal showdown. The legalization of marijuana has a long history as a polarizing subject throughout the nation. As a result, the next step isn't completely clear.

For the Lawyers

Radio stations telemarketing calls did not violate TCPA. The Sixth Circuit held that a radio station’s prerecorded telemarketing call did not violate the Telephone Consumer Protection Act because the calls were exempt from the Act’s provisions. The court found the calls were “hybrid” that both announced a contest and promoted the station. Click here for more.
