Student Loan Debt Hits Record High

Average student loan debt has jumped by 5% since 2010, reaching the highest levels since the Institute for College Access & Success Project started publishing student loan reports. In 2011, two-thirds of all students held loans at graduation, with an average debt of
$26,600. With an unemployment rate of 8.8% for college graduates in 2011, the record student loan debt has become a significant burden, leaving many struggling to find ways to make ends meet. In fact, 38% of recent graduates were working jobs that didn't require a college degree.




Is a college degree worth the price given the current nature of the job market? Well, high school graduates face an unemployment rate of 19.1%, more than double the unemployment rate of their college-educated counterparts.

Nissan Radiator Defect Class Action Settlement

Do you own a 2005-2010 Nissan Pathfinder, Xterra or Frontier? If so, a recent class action settlement may be of interest to you. According to the the plaintiffs in the litigation In re: Nissan Radiator/Transmission Cooler Litigation, Nissan produced vehicles with defective radiators, knew about it, and concealed the defect from consumers. Under the proposed settlement, Nissan will pay to fix the radiator and other damage associated with the defect. The Sixth Circuit held that an auto lender may be liable under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act for failing to reasonably investigate a divorced man's claim that he was mistakenly listed as a co-obligor on his ex-wife's vehicle.
