Texas Firm Ordered to Pay $1.4M

Hill Country Farms (d/b/a Henry's Turkey Service), a Goldthwaite, Texas turkey processing company, has been ordered to pay $1.4 million in back wages after a court found that the company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by paying the workers discriminatory wages. The case, brought by the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, alleged Hill Country Farms violated the ADA by paying mentally disabled workers at an Iowa plant 41 cents per hour. Even though the practices had gone on for years, the law limits the plaintiff's recovery of back wages to the two-year period before the violations were reported. Consumers Unhappy With American Airlines

Are you planning to travel in the next few months? You might want to choose your airline carefully. Over the past few weeks, internal strife at American Airlines has gotten so bad that it has affected operations, leaving thousands of consumers extremely upset.

Recently, as part of a plan to reduce annual labor costs by $1 billion, a federal bankruptcy judge allowed American Airlines to impose new pay on work rules on its pilots. Needless-to-say, the pilots aren't happy. Now, in order to cope with an unusually high number of pilots calling in "sick" and an increase in maintenance reports, American Airlines will
cancel a total of 300 flights this week alone.

Some in the media have even suggested to avoid American Airlines entirely.

Recently, things got so bad at American Airlines that an argument between flight attendants delayed a flight by four hours.

Why has the airline become so unreliable? Click here for more.
