$1.1 Billion LCD Price Fixing Settlement

Over the course of eight years, some of the world's leading manufacturers of LCD screens used in televisions, monitors, and laptops colluded to inflate prices on their products. Last week, three of the major manufacturers settled a class action lawsuit for more than $571 million. In total, manufacturer settlements amount to more than $1.1 billion. Of the settlement, nearly $700 million is set aside for partial refunds. The settlement includes Hitachi, Sharp, Samsung,Toshiba, LG and AU Optronics. Think you might be included in the settlement? CFPB to Supervise Credit Report Companies

Starting in September, credit report companies will be under the supervision of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. According to the Bureau, it will oversee the credit report companies due to the massive influence they have over Americans' financial well-being. Although Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion are the three major credit bureaus, the new rule is primarily designed to monitor the thirty-some sites raking in $7 million each year.
