The People’s Lawyer’s Tip of the Day

"I agree" may mean more than you think. Every time you enter into an agreement on the internet you check a small box saying "I agree." Be careful what you agree to. Tax Credit Set to Expire

Your paycheck may be getting smaller. The "Making Work Pay" tax credit is set to expire at the end of the year. If you are single with no kids and make less than $70,000, you will likely lose $30 a month. If you're married with kids and make less than $150,000, you will likely lose up to $67 a month. More than 90% of Americans benefited from the tax break and will certainly feel the pain when it goes away. President Obama has proposed an extension of the tax credit, but reports indicate Congress doesn't see it as a priority. Are you prepared to lose $400 to $800 a year? Click here for more.

The court noted that the amount in controversy is simply an estimate of the total amount in dispute, not a prospective assessment of defendant’s liability. Click here for more.
