GM Recalls Vehicles for Fluid LeaksGeneral Motors has issued a recall for 13,780 Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne luxury sedans. Gas Pump Owner to Pay $30 Mill FineThe owner of a chain of Houston gas stations has been ordered to pay $30 million after a Harris County jury found the company violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act by providing less than a full gallon of fuel for each gallon charged. An investigation revealed more than half of the 1,701 SunMart gas pumps were delivering less than a full gallon. The company even tried to recalibrate the gas pumps before investigators arrived. OTC Meds Cut From Flex AccountsStarting in January, consumers will no longer be able to use flex accounts to purchase over-the-counter drugs without a doctors prescription. Flexible spending accounts traditionally let consumers use pretax dollars to pay for medical expenses, including over-the-counter medications. A federal district court in Indiana held that an attorney debt collector could not raise mistake of law as a defense to a FDCPA class action lawsuit. The court noted that the Supreme Court has held mistake of law is not within the scope of the bona fide error defense. Click here for more. |
