Prescription Data Mining: The Court Battle

By reviewing a doctors prescription writing history, prescription drug companies can find out which doctors are prescribing the competition, not prescribing much at all, or already prescribing their medication and target them through pitches and rewards. To limit the practice, some states creating laws to restrict access to physician prescription history. As a result, prescription drug companies are suing to regain access to prescription history. The First Circuit is expected to hear a case out of Maine in the coming weeks.
