If not, what are your options? Click here for more. Debit Card Overdraft Fees Produce Significant ProfitsWhen consumers use debit cards, they rarely think twice about it. After all, a debit card is just like a credit card, right? Wrong! If you don't have enough money in your account to cover your purchases, you will likely get socked with an overdraft fee every time. Most consumers assume that the card will be declined if the funds aren't available. Rather, most banks will allow you to overdraft and then demand you pay an additional $34 for each transaction. Unless your recent deposits have "cleared," you don't technically have money in your account yet. Accordingly, be very careful when using your debit card for daily consumer transactions.
