For the LawyersArbitration judicial proceeding privilege does not shield debt collector from liability. A California Court of Appeal has held that arbitrations before the National Arbitration Forum (NAF) do not shield debt collectors from liability for violating consumers' rights. The court reviewed decisions discussing the privilege when applied to debt collection violations, concluding, "We agree with the majority of these cases that the privilege cannot be used to shield violations of the Act."
