The People’s Lawyer’s Tip of the DayDo you live in the Corpus Christi area? On Saturday, March 7th, the Center for Consumer Law at the University of Houston Law Center, with the help of Texas A&M Corpus Christi and the Texas A&M Corpus Christi - Student Accounting Society, will host volunteer lawyers, judges, and law professors, teaching courses in five different areas of law. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has rejected a credit card company's arguments that federal preemption, its mandatory arbitration clause banning class actions, and the Utah choice-of-law provision in American Express's agreement allow it to bar New Jersey consumers from bringing class actions against it.
